Do you know what you child's teacher is posting on social media?
They'll show you exactly what they're teaching when you're not looking.
This month, I’ve set a goal of earning paid subscriptions from 50 more people to support my work. We’re already 68% of the way there! If you appreciate my work, please consider a $5/month or $50/year subscription.
If you can’t financially support my efforts, please consider sharing my work with your friends and family to spread the message. I can’t do it without you.
I’m putting the finishing touches on my Schools Exposed program to help teach parents how to find what the schools are teaching their kids using publicly available information.
Some of that information will be official information from what the schools put out, and some of that information will be from more unofficial sources.
Like your teacher’s social media.
You may not be on social media. You may not like social media. You may not use social media. And, if we’re honest, that’s probably a very wise decision. I’m utterly convinced that Twitter makes people insane.
However, your kids’ teachers ARE on social media.
And the activists and true believers among them are using it to post exactly what they are teaching your children when they don’t believe you’re looking.
We can put in place as many laws as possible to try to regulate what goes on in the classroom.
You can make it illegal to teach critical race theory, as many states have attempted to do (albeit using flawed legislation that still allows it to be taught).
You can make it illegal to teach gender ideology in grades K-3, like Ron DeSantis did in Florida.
You can try to outlaw taxpayer money to funding diversity and equity initiatives, as there is a bill in West Virginia right now to attempt to do.
You can even take over the entire school board to try to manage the approved curriculum better (even though school boards don’t dictate curriculum in any state that isn’t Vermont or Connecticut).
But from a practical perspective, the reality is this: When the classroom door closes, teachers will teach whatever they want, and there usually isn’t anything you can do to prevent it.
They don’t have to use the books the school board approved.
They can download things off the internet, worksheets, curriculum, lesson plans, videos, etc…whatever they need to be able to teach the young minds in their classroom whatever they like.
Not all teachers are activists that will do this sort of thing, and it’s important to acknowledge that. There are still good teachers in the world.
But do not underestimate how sneaky the real activists can be. Here are a few recent stories:
In California, pre-K teacher and early child development college professor William “Willy” Villalpando was discovered posting on Instagram that childhood innocence is a myth and that kids could be taught sex at any age:
"There is a common mythology that children live in this world of pure innocence, and that by introducing or exposing them to the real-world adults are somehow shattering this illusion for them. Therefore, there is a banning of topics and issues that children should not be exposed to, as if they are not experiencing them already."
In the same article, Fox News reported that 9th-grade history teacher Olivia Garrison used Tik Tok to brag about helping students hide their social transition from their parents.
This also happened with Maryland middle school teacher Lane Cogdill, who laughed about intentionally hiding kids’ gender changes from parents.
And with Skye Tooley, who used a stuffed unicorn to teach elementary school children what gender fluid and non-binary means:
All of these images and stories are publicly available on social media, just waiting to be found. If your kid’s teacher looks like any of these people, chances are something is going on in the classroom that you want to know about.
This is why I have an entire section of my book Actively Unwoke dedicated to discussing putting #CamerasInClassrooms to monitor what the schools are teaching and providing a live stream to parents of kids in the room so they know what’s going on - this is the only way to achieve true accountability.
But until we get #CamerasInClassrooms, we have to use more sneaky methods…and following teachers on social media can be a very enlightening experience.
When you follow them on their Twitter, Instagram and TikTok accounts, here are some of the things you can find:
What their politics are, especially if they are on the far left (or the far right, for that matter, but the vast majority of teachers are on the left based on donations to political parties).
If they are engaging in social justice activism - they’ll show you pictures from their protests and use all the virtue-signaling hashtags.
What books they’re teaching your kids - they love posting pictures.
What lessons they’re teaching - they will post them.
If they’re trying to teach your kids radical gender ideology or critical race theory.
What other teachers in the schools are teaching, because they’ll repost their friends in the school.
What type of teacher training the schools are doing, because they’ll post pictures with the trainers. Any training the schools are doing will make it’s way into the classroom.
Checking their social media is one of the easiest things you can do to keep an eye on things. If you find nothing, great. But if you find something…you’ll be glad you took the time to look.
What do you think?
Have you looked at your kid’s teacher’s social media lately? Leave a comment and let me know! And please share this with your friends and family who need to learn this information.
Fight back against the woke and support my work
I believe the woke - on the left and the right - are an existential threat to our values as Americans. Some of them know it, most of them are just useful innocents. Regardless, fighting back against this woke cultural revolution is my full-time job. I’m dedicated to exposing the woke ideology in our country, helping people to understand what’s going on, and providing spaces for non-woke people to connect, support each other, and plan ways to fight back.
Here’s how you can help.
Great post Karlyn. Thank you!
