Please stop with the book banning.
This is a war of attrition. You have to fight smarter than this.
If you appreciate my work, I hope you’ll consider ordering my book and supporting my work on Patreon, Locals, or through a Substack subscription.
I know what you’re going to say.
“WE’RE NOT BANNING BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! WE’RE RESTRICTING AGE-INAPPROPRIATE MATERIALS!!!!!!!!!!! THAT’S NOT THE SAME AS BANNING BOOKS!!!!!!!!! STOP SAYING WE’RE BANNING BOOKS!!!!!!!!! YOU LEFTIST DON’T YOU CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!”
Yes, that’s what you were going to say.
Please don’t try to deny it.
See, the thing is that I’ve had this conversation repeatedly for the last year, ever since Moms 4 Liberty first found their way onto CNN talking about how they wanted to ban perfectly fine books from the school curriculum.
I told you then that this was an unforced error and it would be used against us FOREVER.
And it was.
And it has been.
And it was completely unnecessary.
I did a SPY STREAM today on a progressive activist training where half of it was using the book bans to fearmonger their base:
“BUT THOSE BOOKS SHOULDN’T BE IN SCHOOLS!!!!! WHY DO YOU WANT TO TEACH SEX!!!!!! GROOOOOOOOOOOOMER!!!!!!!!!!”
Yes, you’re going to say all those things.
I’ve heard them all a million times.
Here’s the thing: Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Should those books be in school? No.
But what are you achieving by getting one book out of school? Or two? Or ten?
Because they are just going to replace them with different books that say the same thing in a different way.
Or different lesson plans that they aren’t going to deliver in the form of a book, but rather in the form of something they downloaded off of the internet.
The point is this is a firehose that you can’t keep up with in that way. You get one, they’ll replace it with three more. You’ll constantly be chasing your tail. And they’ll get more creative about how they’re hiding it from you. They’ll keep repeating until they wear you out and you’ll just stop trying.
This is a war of attrition. The first side to give up loses.
The woke left knows this, so they go out of their way to make every part of the process difficult until you lose interest and move on to the next thing the news cycle tells you to care about (remember, critical race theory is still in schools everywhere - the news just doesn’t cover it as much anymore).
And I promise you, you are not even preventing your little darlings from reading the books you’re getting pulled from libraries anyway.
If anything, you’re making them MORE likely to read them.
Do you seriously think the teachers that are fighting to teach those books aren’t going to make sure your children absolutely know that you got that book banned and isn’t it awful they don’t want you to read it?
Your kids will be hiding those banned books under their mattresses the same way kids used to hide playboys.
They’re going to wonder “what’s the big deal? Why don’t they want me to see this?”
And they’re going to find the book, and they’re going to read it on their own, and probably a whole lot more closely than if they had found it by accident at the school library (do kids even go into libraries anymore? Can’t they find all the materials they need online?)
You’ve made it the forbidden fruit! Do you think they aren’t going to go for it? Did you learn nothing from your Bibles???
But more importantly, books are a DISTRACTION.
The other day, I did a live investigation of the San Francisco Unified School District.
Here are some slides from a presentation we found from the school district showing which topics would be taught at the different grade levels and flat-out saying that parents CAN NOT opt their children out of these lessons.
These slides say that parents CAN opt out of lessons on sexually transmitted diseases.
But that parents CAN NOT opt out of lessons on gender identity.
Do you get it?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem is far deeper than a few books with cartoons having sex.
Yes, I agree those books are problematic. However, what I think is MORE problematic is the fact that these lessons are required by school policy, and that parents cannot opt out of them.
The book are a SYMPTOM of a significantly bigger and more complex problem.
And every second you spend trying to ban the books that you don’t like for whatever reason is a second that you DON’T spend on the much deeper problems.
The books will change when the policies change.
The policies will change when the administration changes.
The administration will change when the community demands it.
The community will demand it when we win the culture.
You’re working on the least significant step in the process.
You’re also doing it out of order, so every “win” you get will simply be undone.
This is a battle of attrition.
They’re trying to wear you out.
Stop making it so damn easy for them and focus on the things that actually matter.
Fight back against the woke and support my work
I believe the woke - on the left and the right - are an existential threat to our values as Americans. Some of them know it, most of them are just useful innocents. Regardless, fighting back against this woke cultural revolution is my full-time job. I’m dedicated to exposing the woke ideology in our country, helping people to understand what’s going on, and providing spaces for non-woke people to connect, support each other, and plan ways to fight back.
Here’s how you can help.
Interesting perspective, you make a good point, IMO. School board candidates in my area have primarily been focusing on getting back to educational basics; the State Dept of Ed has baked CRT and DEI into the public school curriculum which appears to be much more important than being able to read at grade level. There are parents who are very involved in going through school library lists to find the offensive books and trying to have them removed. These books don’t/shouldn’t be in schools; let the parents teach what’s theirs to teach. And what kids don’t learn at home, they will learn from their peers. But I believe you are on point--even w/o books, the woke teachers will indoctrinate with whatever the curriculum dictates. Focus on getting the right people in the right positions to make the right changes and get American education back on track.
Good points. Spot on.
