RE-EDUCATION #2: What "Abolish Capitalism" Truly Means to the Left
It's not about getting rid of crony or corrupt capitalism, and it will impact all of us.
The RE-EDUCATION series is part of Woke 101, which will get you up to speed on the basics they don't teach you when you become a soldier in the culture war. If you’re new to the RE-EDUCATION series, start here with the introduction.

What "Abolish Capitalism" Truly Means to the Left
I recently posed a provocative question on X: When the left says they want to “abolish capitalism,” what do they mean?
Out of tens of thousands of views and hundreds of responses, the majority missed the mark.
This misunderstanding is significant. While most people can parrot the left's desire to abolish capitalism, few grasp what it truly entails or how it will impact their lives. Make no mistake—it will affect everyone, regardless of wealth or status.
The left has a very specific definition of “capitalism,” and it's likely not what you think. It’s not about seizing factories or dismantling corporations like Amazon or Google. It’s not even about crony capitalism or corruption.
It’s about the abolition of private property.
Marx made this crystal clear in The Communist Manifesto:
“The theory of communism may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property.”
But what does this mean?
When the left talks about abolishing private property, they're referring to:
Your ability to own a home or land: They want state ownership to ensure housing for all.
Your ability to own rental units or be a landlord or Airbnb host: They see landlords as oppressors.
Your right to own a private business: Control extends beyond big corporations to small businesses too.
Your intellectual property: They believe ideas should be shared with the world, not owned.
Your parental rights: They equate parental authority with ownership of children, similar to slave ownership.
Your individual liberties: They consider freedom of speech and religion as forms of private property.
Moreover, they advocate for state control over:
Healthcare: Abolishing private doctors and insurance in favor of universal healthcare. The state will determine your access to medical care.
Education: Eliminating private and homeschooling in favor of compulsory public education. The state will dictate what your children learn.
Energy and utilities: The state will decide how much fuel you get and who can heat their homes.
Food supply: The state will control food production, including privately owned farms.
When the left says they want to abolish capitalism, this is what they mean. Every action they take is aimed at achieving this goal.
Throughout this series, I'll expose how capitalism ties into every issue the left champions, from racism and gender to environmental justice and police abolition. Subscribe for updates as new posts are published. If you appreciate this work, please consider supporting it.
