One of the stars of Presidential politics shows his true colors.
RFK is the outsider candidate that has gained a lot of positive attention since he entered the race. He is reportedly surging among Republican voters.
I was always unsure of him. I knew he had spoken out against vaccines, and that was good…but I also knew he was a Democrat and that was bad.
Anyone who does not fully understand that the Democratic party is completely corrupt and completely unsavable is suspect, and I had no indication that RFK understood that it was no longer his father’s and uncle’s party.
I saw RFK speak at #Porcfest last week…and I was unimpressed. He said a lot of great things about vaccines and big pharma, and that was amazing to hear a presidential candidate on the left say. He is very very good on those issues.
But what about the other issues?
My suspicions were confirmed today.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. came out in favor of affirmative action, specifically saying he supports using race-based policies to undo systemic racism.
In the original version of his best-selling book How To Be An Anti-Racist, Ibram X Kendi wrote the following:
The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.
I say it was in the original version of the book because the publisher has since updated it due to a blowback for that position. I can’t imagine why people would object to discrimination!
Here’s my question: How is what RFK said any different from what Ibram X Kendi said?
Not only did he agree with Kendi’s premise that you can fix racism with more racism, but he also seemed to believe that color blindness is a bad thing.
I don’t think that color blind is the best term - I prefer color indifferent. We’re not blind to color - we can see what colors people are and we should acknowledge that. But we should be indifferent towards it, meaning it should not impact our decision-making process.
But sadly, the common term that people know that idea by is color blindness.
Using the term color blind instead of color indifferent is bad because it gives the woke left such an easy dunk. I wish people would start using color indifferent, but changing language like that isn’t easy once people are used to doing it in one way.
Regardless, RKF saying that he thinks being color blind is bad is a talking point of the woke left, which means he (at least in some small part) has bought into their ideology or that he doesn’t really know what they mean or what they’re doing.
I’m not saying RFK is terrible.
He may mean well. I’m sure he does. I like that he’s making noise - people who make noise are doing good work regardless because they shake things up. Presidential politics need people like that, and I love that he’s running as a Democrat.
I would not be heartbroken if he became President. Ultimately, I think there are worse options, including another Biden term (because we’re getting Kamala if Biden gets in again - Biden is not mentally fit and likely will not make it through another term).
I really hope they don’t try to assassinate him, and it’s crazy something like that even needs to be said. But let’s be honest…RFK demanded full security and a gun free zone at libertarian festival where there are only rules are don’t hurt each other and don’t take people’s stuff…it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he’s worried about this. Porcfest was one of the safest places he could possibly be.
I also like that he’s really going to piss a lot of Democrats off. That’s dangerous for him though (see above)…but assuming the establishment left can reign in their inner Hillary Clinton, I think it’s a good thing to make the woke left mad.
When the woke left is mad, they make mistakes…and when they make mistakes, more people wake up for what’s really going on.
But, we can like someone and appreciate their contributions while also understanding that they should never be given power if we can possibly help it because they would just become useful idiots of the woke left, and we don’t have time for that.
Maybe someone can school RFK on this and bring him up to speed…quickly. I know we shouldn’t really help Democrats but, honestly, if RFK could be set straight on this and on 2A, it would make for a better race.
I do not believe he’s currently hinged into reality regarding some of the most important things the left is doing and if he got better on that, I think that would be appealing to a lot of people across the aisle.
Until then, I’m giving my vote to Vivek Ramaswamy in New Hampshire. Vivek understands and speaks woke, and has made it a focal point of his campaign. I know where he stands on the things that matter most to me and am thrilled that he’s running.
Whoever you choose to vote for, you’re welcome here if you care about these issues. I hope my writing is coming from a position of “I think everyone is crazy and the sane people need to find each other at some point” rather than from a perspective of being completely tribally biased.
I feel we’re really lacking some good “everyone is crazy” nuance in the discussion.
But I do think people need to be honest about these issues. If you care about moving the needle back from the far left, RFK is not your guy…right now. Could he be convinced to be? Maybe. I hope so.
Let me know who you’re thinking of voting for and why in the comments.
Fight back against the woke and support my work.
I believe the woke - on the left and the right - are an existential threat to our values as Americans. Some of them know it, most of them are just useful innocents. Regardless, fighting back against this woke cultural revolution is my full-time job. I’m dedicated to exposing the woke ideology in our country, helping people to understand what’s going on, and providing spaces for non-woke people to connect, support each other, and plan ways to fight back.

Glenn Greenwald just did a great segment on this tonight (nothing about RFJ Jr.'s tweet, though)

I agree with you on RFK Jr.. At the end of the day, despite him saying some great things on vaccines and his anti-war statements, I remain skeptical. He has a long history, and some of it is troubling. He was a big Hillary supporter--huge red flag. (I'm not exactly an Alex Jones fan, but I agree with him 100% that she smells of sulfur.)
But that goes to a problem with the Democratic Party; they are like The Borg. Even Bernie Sanders is totally spouting the Party Line today, including on Ukraine. This is the party of Woke Imperialism. They pretended to be against Bush 43 an the Iraq War (even though half of them voted for it) but they are fine with sending an unlimited amount of weapons to Ukraine, as long as they have rainbow stickers on them (with zero accountability of where those weapons end up--for about 70% of them, we have no idea, according to a CBS report that was, of course, squashed. AND YET THE DEMOCRATS ARE AGAINST THE 2A FOR THEIR OWN CITIZENS! Hypocrisy and double-standards. It's the Democrat way.)
I'm supporting no one in 2024, at this point. The only real value I can see in RFK Jr running in the Dem Party is for him to cause "headaches" for them, to the use the word the liberal MSM unintelligentsia are using lately, Personally, I despise the duopoly and wish to see it break into a trillion pieces. I don't hate Republicans or Democrats (like they tend to hate each other). I hate the parties themselves and their stranglehold on our system. They simply do not represent us, to borrow the Italian leftist slogan.
Maybe RFK Jr really believes in affirmative action. It's hard to say; what is his motivation for pandering, given that he is already so hated for his views on vaccines, and more recently, on chemicals in the water making the friggin frogs gay (lol, OK, transgender. The former is Alex Jones)? What does he have to lose? (He recently upset a lot of people with his comments on Israel. I think he's shit on that issue, personally. But I don't think he's pandering, or at least, I don't think he's faking his embrace of Israel as blameless, in light of all evidence to the contrary. Reading just a little bit of Norman Finkelstein should disabuse an objective person of that notion. OK, I'm going way off on a tangent, as usual.)
I would prefer Dr. Cornel West over almost any of the other candidates--and I have disagreements with him, too. But he is clear in his positions, agree with him or not. Vivek seems to be similarly clear but I haven't looked into him. (I should.) Breaking up the duopoly will take many decades, and it simply may not ever happen, but I think it's necessary to move toward anything resembling a representative republic, let alone "democracy." Right now we have a plutocratic system with a woke veneer. Michael Rectenwald, a former Marxist, has many intriguing and (of course) controversial ideas about this. He was unjustly banned from Twitter and has yet to be reinstated by "free speech absolutist" Mr. Musk. How shocking. /s
