Schools Exposed is almost 40% funded! Get some great perks when you help us cross the finish line.
Can we cross the 50% line this weekend? I'll even knit you this shawl!
After getting cancled by Kickstarter, I’m fundraising on another site. It looks like we will be safe, but I have another backup option after that. You can get a hand knit, customized shawl like this when you help me meet this goal of training 10,000 parents to find what schools are teaching their kids.
The Unwoke Army is hard at work uncovering information from school districts across the country, and I’ll be posting some of the things they are digging up this week from Black Lives Matter curriculum in Cambridge MA to radical gender ideology in Madison WI.
But before we get into that, I wanted to give everyone an update on the Schools Exposed fundraiser.
This week, Kickstarter manually reviewed and approved my campaign to crowdfund a training program to teach 10,000 parents how to use publicly available information. And hours after it was launched, when it had already raised 20% of the goal, Kickstarter canceled the campaign with no proof that it violated any of their platform policies.
However, I anticipated this might happen and engaged my backup plan. I had quietly set up a campaign on Indiegogo to be ready to launch and, after Kickstarter pulled the plug, I was back up and running within the hour. We’ve been live for more than a day now, so I feel like we’re safe there and I hope everyone who donated to the original Kickstarter will return.
The great news is that we’re already at almost 40% of the goal within 48 hours.
Thank you to everyone who have helped us get this far this quickly!
Let’s talk about some of the benefits of supporting this project.
Gifts of any size are welcome and appreciated, but when you give at certain levels, you’ll get rewards.
If you’d like to be one of the first people to take part in the Schools Exposed program when it launches in January 2023, a $50 will get you there. There are only 50 slots available at this level, and 9 of them are already spoken for!
If you’d like to get access for yourself and provide a scholarship for someone who needs it, that is a $90 donation. This perk was added by special community request! People not only want to support the program, but want to help others take advantage of it as well.
I’ll personally autograph a copy of my book Actively Unwoke for you at the $100 level. There are only 50 slots available for this one too, and 12 have already been claimed!
Schools Exposed is going to create a group training environment, where multiple people are trained to look into the schools at the same time. When you donate $250, you'll get a private one-on-one training with me and review specifically for your school.
Sometimes, looking into the schools can be time-consuming and the biggest obstacle that prevents most parents from doing so is time. At the $500 level, I will personally look into your school and provide you with a report of what you need to know.
And I’ll even knit you a shawl.
For years, people have asked me how they can purchase one of my handknit shawls. Well, here is your chance. At the $1000 level, I will knit you a one-of-a-kind creation. We’ll work together to pick out the yarn and the pattern and then I’ll make it real.
If you go with this perk, you have to be patient - knitting takes a while! That’s why there are only ten slots available.
Here are some samples of some of my favorite shawls:
Other perks may be added as the campaign goes on, but that’s where we are for now.
And of course, the most important thing you can do is share this information! When Schools Exposed is successful, it will be because of word-of-mouth.
Let’s train 10,000 parents how to find what the schools are teaching their kids!
Scaling technology to this level requires money. But if you help me do it, I promise you that I will not stop until I run at least 10,000 parents through this program.
I’m so glad the shawl is for the highest donation. Knitting is so special.
