On January 21, 2025, President Donald Trump dropped a policy bombshell by signing an executive order that eliminates affirmative action and axes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) programs from federal agencies. This move sends a loud and clear message: the era of identity politics-driven policies is over, and meritocracy is making a comeback.

Here’s the breakdown of what this executive order does and why it matters:

What Did Trump’s Order Do?

• Canceled Affirmative Action: Federal agencies can no longer make decisions based on race, gender, or other identity factors. Admissions, hiring, and promotions must now be strictly merit-based.
