What does it mean to be "woke" and what do they care about?
An introduction to what the woke ideology really is based on how they show up in the world.
I literally wrote the book about fighting back against the woke ideology - Actively Unwoke: The Ultimate Guide for Fighting Back Against The Woke Insanity In Your Life. Get your copy in hardcover, kindle, or audiobook.
What does it mean to be "woke"?
To be woke is to be an authoritarian.
It is to demand people think, speak, and behave in ways the woke deam acceptable and in line with their personal values.
If they do not bend the knee to behave as the woke command, the woke will use political, financial, or social pressure to try to force them to.
Woke exists on the political left.
Woke exists on the political right.
It's not about political ideology. It's about authoritarianism. Both sides are absolutely inflexible when it comes to compromise or finding a common sense middle ground. Both sides absolutely engage in cancel culture.
However, woke on the political left is significantly more dangerous than woke on the political right for the simple reason that they control all the major institutions - the government, media, higher education, the schools, entertainment, even religion. And they achieved this because they primarily care about power.
For the woke right, it’s about image.
The woke right, one the other hand, use woke tactics to make personal attacks and engage in smear campaigns against those who cross them. Because image and brand is what the woke right cares about more than anything, their focus is almost entirely on character assassination of people they consider enemies. They put almost zero energy into attaining power, except within conservative media circles that are largely ignored by mainstream people. So, they use the same tactics as the woke left, but not with the same intention or purpose, which is why they are rarely successful in defeating the woke left in any real way.
For the woke left, it’s about power.
It’s no mistake that the woke left have attained all this power, because attaining institutional power (this is called “legitimate” power in the MBA textbooks) is their sole focus. This means not just getting themselves into elected positions, but also ascending to leadership and other influential positions within the system - running businesses, non-profits, administering schools, teaching positions on faculty, etc. They seek to capture positions that have influence over others in some way.
Theirs is a long game, a decades long battle of inches
Attain as much political power as possible
Destabilize the system
Attack Capitalism
Usher in a Marxist “utopia”
I’ve watched thousands of hours of the woke left’s online trainings, many of them on my YouTube Channel (aptly named Actively Unwoke) and, regardless of if it was done by a non-profit, a major university, or even the federal government, the vast majority of these trainings specifically mention capitalism as the underlying problem in regard to achieving “equity.”
It’s important that people realize this - the enemy of the woke left is not cis-gendered, straight white men. It’s capitalism. They attack capitalism because capitalism is about the success of the individual and grounded in meritocrisy. In order to achieve their cultural revolution, the woke left needs us to shift from valuing the individual meritocracy to putting the collective above all else. And when we’re talking about equalizing outcomes across the collective (which is the definition of equity), that’s Marxism.
It’s not about political sides. It’s about wanting to control other people.
To understand woke, you must understand that this is not a battle over race or gender or sexual orientation or gender identity, or even between the two major political parties because they both participate in it.
It’s not a question of left versus right.
It’s about authoritarianism versus libertarianism.
That’s why one of the very best ways you can fight back against the woke ideology is through personal empowerment.
Say what you want, without caring what others think.
Do what you want, without caring what others have to say about it.
And if a mob of people tries to get you to bend the knee, you stand your ground. Never give an inch. Do not allow anyone - whether they be woke on the left, woke on the right, or otherwise - to push you around. Be who you are, and never apologize for it.
Fight back against the woke and support my work
I believe the woke - on the left and the right - are an existential threat to our values as Americans. Some of them know it, most of them are just useful idiots. Regardless, fighting back against this cultural revolution is my full-time job. I’m dedicated to exposing the woke ideology in our country, helping people to understand what’s going on, and providing spaces for non-woke people to connect, support each other, and plan ways to fight back.

Excellent piece. Thank you for an extremely understandable explanation that can be shared with anyone. This is perfect.
Amazing clarity of thought and expression in defining the terms used by all sides in the authoritarian spectrum. Enviable ability to teach us about the latest destructive phenomena foisted upon us by the poisonous enemies of our system.
