It’s the way almost everyone gets their start in the fight against the woke left: Becoming a reply guy.
Tell me if this sounds familiar: One day you just can’t take it anymore, and you comment on something woke that someone has posted online, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram…whatever your platform of choice is.
If that reply goes well, and nothing terribly eventful happens like getting a cancel mob attacking you, you keep going. Each time you reply get a little more spunky and spicy in your replies. It’s invigorating, saying the things that you’ve dreamed of saying for years but held back out of fear of the mob.
Maybe you even start making some friends and you guys start looking for woke social media posts to reply to and offer a different perspective. It becomes like a group activity.
Your favorite company posts a woke statement about their diversity program, you reply telling them you won’t patronize them until they get rid of it.
You see a news story that outrages you and you look up the social media accounts of the perpetrator and attack.
Your favorite celebrity virtue signals for pride month, you reply asking them “what is a woman?”
And let’s not even talk about what happens when reply guys from opposite teams clash. It can be a fight that lasts for days.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with being a reply guy…in fact, I think there are some great benefits. Occasionally, it can lead to positive changes that matter.
But there are also some drawbacks.
I’ve been doing this for three and a half years and I’m not exaggerating when I say that I have watched previously normal people become seriously mentally unhinged from embracing the role of reply guy for years on end.
It is extremely easy to get sucked into, no matter how smart you are. And once you’re in it, it’s an addiction that is hard to escape.
