Woke 101: Why were there drag queens at the Olympic opening ceremony?

Many were taken aback at the 2024 Olympic opening ceremonies, when a group of drag queens recreated The Last Supper:

Thus, the Olympics were forever queered.

We should have seen it coming, as it was being reported weeks prior that the person directing the ceremonies was queer and wanted everyone to feel represented:

But here’s what you need to know: “Queer” is not about making people feel included. It’s not even about being gay or trans, because you do not need to be gay or trains in order to be queer.

Queer is a far-left political ideology that specifically wants to do the following:

• Destabilize normativity or the norms that currently uphold our capitalist society;

• Abolish the gender binary (men and women), which they believe was created by capitalism;

• Abolish the nuclear family, which they believe upholds and reproduces capitalism;

• Abolish capitalism, or private property ownership, in favor of a Marxist society based on equity where everyone has access to all resources.

What do drag queens have to do with this?

• Drag queens are frequently used by queer activists to attack the idea of binary gender and to use to destabilize normativity.

• This is not about sexualizing children - this is right-wing propaganda that is not backed up by the evidence.

  • Rather, drag queens are about teaching that changing gender is as easy as changing an outfit. They usually target children because their brains are not fully developed, making it difficult for them to think about this idea critically.

  • There was a rumor that one of the performers had a testicle hanging out of their costume. This turned out to be untrue and was just a rip in the performer’s tights that caused it to look like nudity when it was not.

  

• A high-profile event like the Olympics offers an opportunity to insert messaging that is purposefully designed to make people feel uncomfortable as a way of destabilizing cultural norms.

  • Drag Queens subvert the gender binary by showing that men can transform their gender.

  • The selection of the Last Supper scene was designed to be inflammatory to outrage the Christian right to amplify the queer messaging to the world. It wasn’t so much of an attack on Christianity as it was an opportunity to get the useful idiots to do their work for them.

  • The Jesus figure in the Last Supper was a fat, Jewish, queer lesbian. Fat activism is one component of queer activism.

Moments like this can be inflammatory and outrage-producing, which is their intent. However, when you remember that the left's goals never change and are always consistent, you can look at each moment with a clear head and evaluate the true goal rather than becoming a pawn in the outrage machine.
