Abolishing gender is not a new idea on the left.

Zines: The Far-Left's Propaganda Tool
Zines have long been a favorite weapon of the far-left—a medium through which they articulate their ideas, spread propaganda, and recruit new members to their cause. They’re especially popular among queer anarcho-communists and have played a significant role in shaping the narratives of today’s queer activists.
By examining their propaganda, we gain a window into their ideology and tactics.
This is a short zine that was written in 1999 focusing on the left’s goal of abolishing gender.

The title page leaves no room for doubt: their goal is to abolish the concept of binary gender (men and women) and replace it with a world where gender is entirely queer and non-binary.
If that wasn’t clear enough, the next page removes any ambiguity:
“A million genders for a million people! Smash the binary gender system!”
It’s worth noting that the left has, at times, conflated the terms trans and queer. Historically, trans referred to transitioning one’s gender, while queer represented a far-left political ideology. However, after the legalization of gay marriage, they largely began treating these as separate terms. While there are exceptions, this distinction has mostly become the norm.
The document continues to drive home their explicit goal of eradicating the gender binary:
They argue that the existence of gender itself perpetuates the patriarchy. To the left, the patriarchy is synonymous with the gender binary—a system in which men are cast in oppressive roles over women.
This system, they claim, stems from the capitalist construction of binary gender.
Abolish capitalism, abolish patriarchy, and create gender equity in a non-binary world.
The left’s approach to achieving gender equity—where everyone exists on an equal level—is rooted in dismantling the social constructs of the gender binary (men and women). According to their belief system, these constructs were created and perpetuated by capitalism.
Thus, to eliminate the gender binary, capitalism itself must be abolished. Once capitalism is eradicated, they argue, the binary framework of gender will collapse, paving the way for true gender equity. This ideological framework ties the abolition of capitalism directly to the goal of eliminating gender-based hierarchies.
