Discovery+ has a series called The Book Of Queer, described as a “dive into the epic queer history you wish you’d learned about in school.”
And in the first episode of that series, they are saying that Abraham Lincoln was queer.
While it is true that some historians have posited that Lincoln did have male love interests (including living with a man and sleeping in the same bed with him for four years), the series takes some liberties with the telling, infusing a lot of camp into the telling of history.
But more importantly, for our purposes, it explicitly introduces Queer Theory (Queer Marxism) to the viewer.
If the events did unfold as portrayed, there’s nothing wrong with Lincoln (or anyone) liking what they like, and I don’t think anyone would judge him for it today.
However, Lincoln almost certainly would not have considered himself queer, as the term refers to an act of rebellion against the norm, or capitalism.
The show explicitly says the following:
“You may have noticed we didn’t label Abe ‘gay’ because that wouldn’t make too much sense.
Why?
Because sexuality, just like race and gender, is what we call a social construct…or a concept that we, as a society, just came up with.”
In Lincoln’s time, the idea of a ‘homosexual’ hadn’t yet been conceived or constructed in the English language. For hundreds of years, people didn’t agree on a word for for men who loved men.
And given all these changes in language throughout history, that why we LOVE the word ‘queer.’ All it means, in the words of queer theorist David Halperin, is ‘whatever is at odds with the normal, the legitimate, the dominant.’
And hey! We may even come up with newer social constructs to describe ourselves in the future! After all, they are just figments of our collective imagination.”
See for yourself in this clip:
The danger here isn’t what the series might reveal about your favorite historical figures. Who really cares who they slept with?
The more significant problem is the explicit introduction of queer theory into the discussion…which some might argue is ALSO a made-up theory that is just a figment of the imaginations of the woke leftists who preach it as reality.
When critiquing things like this, I think it’s important to be explicit about what aspect of it we are critiquing - it’s not the gay part. That’s fine. Who cares?
The critique is on the theory they’re advancing, not the lived experiences of LGBT people.
When you do this, you take away their ability to just hurl a slur at you can call it a day. The left will probably do it anyway, but it doesn’t hurt for you to make it more difficult for them to do so.
What are they trying to achieve?
Remember, the four goals of the woke left are as follows:
Gain as much power as possible
Destabilize the system
Attack capitalism
Usher in their Marxist utopia
Everything they do is designed to meet one or more of these goals.
In this case, they aren’t trying to gain power…because they’ve already gained it. That’s how the show got produced in the first place.
Queer theory is explicitly about being against whatever is the dominant ideology, which seems like a pretty direct attack on the system. By introducing it to the world, they are pushing the world to question the very nature of what they thought was true, which will be inherently destabilizing.
They do this to cause problems, as a destabilizing system inevitably causes pain to people around it.
And, as we know, it’s also against capitalism.
Once they undermine capitalism, they offer their Marxist utopia as a replacement.
See how that works?
Apply the four goals anytime you see the left doing something crazy to figure out what they’re doing, and suddenly the world will start to make a lot more sense.

Fight back against the woke and support my work.
I believe the woke - on the left and the right - are an existential threat to our values as Americans. Some of them know it, most of them are just useful innocents. Regardless, fighting back against this woke cultural revolution is my full-time job. I’m dedicated to exposing the woke ideology in our country, helping people to understand what’s going on, and providing spaces for non-woke people to connect, support each other, and plan ways to fight back.
Here’s how you can help.

I'm at a loss for words. lol. It's the definition of revisionist history, isn't it? They're using a new theory, queer theory, and applying it to times when it didn't exist. I will need to sleep on this and get back to you. Sigh...
Forgive me, Dr. B.
I lasted all of 16 seconds and couldn't stand it. Thanks anyway.
