I think he's making the same mistakes that other large platforms did when they try to be everything to everyone. He should focus on making Twitter a better verion of what it is, not a monopoly of all social media functions.

Seems like the best choice would be for someone in management at Substack to phone Musk and talk it over. Has anyone done that or would people rather argue?

Did Musk phone them prior to shutting off the links of every single person on the platform?

I imagine not. Musk is somewhat of an erratic actor, and prone to decision by emotion, but many a kerfuffle has been resolved by calm and reason. You (Substack mgmt) call him, talk about the problem, attend to his concerns, and resolve it. Musk is somewhat of an embarrassment, but he is "on our side", and it doesn't hurt for a more level head to make peace and gain cooperation.

He didn't just screw over a company. He screwed over every single writer on this platform, including me.

If one is in a battle, and being anti-woke is a battle, you don't have the luxury of NOT trying to solve a problem. Granted you as a content creator (probably) can't just phone Musk up and talke to him, that is Substack management's job.

Musk's complaint was legitimate, if true: "Substack was trying to download a massive portion of the Twitter database to bootstrap their Twitter clone, so their IP address is obviously untrusted,”

There are always going to be problems, and often times a seemingly major problem can be resolved by just phoning a person and chatting about it in a reasonable way.

Anyway, if the story below is true, the problem has been resolved.

Again, Musk was the one who was in the wrong here. He's not on our side. He corrected the error because of external pressure, no other reason.
