"Anna could have admitted that she didn’t have an exclusive and removed the label but maintained she did better reporting than me, and I probably would have said, “Yes, you did a lot more work; good for you.”

This.

I don't fault her for not being aware of your article. Could have Googled it , but oh well we are all task-saturated in this busy world.

All they've gotta do is remove the "exclusive" tag and say a one sentence thanks to you for breaking the story. Just good journalistic manners.

It's great that you called this out. There's too much taking credit for the work of others happening these days. When leaders do not hold themselves accountable (Claudine Gay, anyone?) the general population believes they don't have hold themselves to high standards either. Honesty still has value in my world. I hope this gave you a bit more exposure; people need to know about your great work.

I worked briefly on an independent newspaper. Printed newspaper. Years ago. The thing that mattered was timing. Who broke the story first? Private DMs don’t count. Studying up doesn’t count. When you published counted. It’s not exclusive if someone else broke the story first. At least not unless you have something like an exclusive interview. But it’s all out there on video. First reported by Karlyn.
