This was a heartbreaking read. The work you do is important. It's far more pressing than what a grown woman wears to the gym.
You were the only one who extensively covered my substack experience. I'm grateful. Unfortunately that video still has under 1k views. My goal is to empower students to share their experiences.
I believe everyone that hears about this feels as if they are simply powerless, IF they even believe it enough to listen to the content. It’s difficult for them to comprehend that this is even happening or they are more liberal minded and don’t wish to face the truth. It’s like talking to a damn brick wall! Those that matter to me are already burnt out on politics over the last two yrs of Covid bullshit! They don’t even want to hear anything about “political things”!
Sorry:-( I think a lot of it is just that people are overwhelmed. Breakdown from what Ive seen: A lot of the people fighting it are parents with not much time. If I was still single 20s or childless like a lot of the professional activists, Id be on top of it just as well. A lot of old people have absolutely no clue of this machinery so they don't help. The time we do have is taken up trying to gather up the grassroots effort in one way or another, be it through a parent group, moms for liberty, the GOP, lawsuits, or what have you. And we have no prior experiene with any of this: politics, advertising, social media, running events. Add the amount of stuff being churned out by Rufo et al, and theres too much on too few shoulders.
I hope I didnt discourage you with that, but thats what its like on the ground for us few parents who stand up. Few do, because theyre afraid of retaliation. I get a lot of hate in my community. Its exhausting. Im sure you know. They are so well organized. We...are not.
Keep your chin up! Even making a few thousand aware is no small feat. I will try to spread your info around MN o7
I subscribed earlier this year for a year. I also bought your book. I read everything, but I don't watch YouTube very often. Because I don't have kids in school, I do try to spread the word to those who do. Thankfully, my autistic son is 27 now and this wasn't happening when he was in school. However, I still enjoy being informed. YouTube is luxury time for me, which is not as easy as it sounds even though he's an adult now. However, please don't take that as a sign that your work is insignificant. It absolutely is not.
Karlyn, I have just recently discovered you (still not sure how, but grateful). You post so much content on YouTube my head is spinning, and I don't know where to start. How do you do it? Few of us have time to watch it all, or even most (again, how on earth are you producing so much material? Do you even sleep??). I subscribed almost immediately, because your work is so incredibly important. I wish I knew the answer to your dilemma. What is being done to children in our schools is THE most important story. Please don't stop. Maybe the person who is meant to see it hasn't found you yet.
According to common meanings of conservatism and liberalism in the United States, libertarianism has been described as conservative on economic issues (economic liberalism) and liberal on personal freedom (civil libertarianism), often associated with a foreign policy of non-interventionism.

On the spectrum, isn't libertarianism farther right? It's still right wing...

Seding you good vibes Karlyn
