Repeat after me: Teachers do not have free speech rights in the classroom.

This has already been decided by the Supreme Court in Garcetti v Ceballos (2006), which states that public employees do not retain First Amendment protection for speech as part of their official job duties. Learn more about the Garcetti case here.

This is the case the woke left doesn’t want you to know about.

In this video from yesterday’s SPY STREAM, you’ll see me fact check Jonathan Friedman, the Director of Free Expression at PEN America.

Jon gave a presentation for the far-left project Alt Liberal Arts, which is a backlash to the conservative takeover at New College in Florida. Here’s what you’re going to see:

• Jon says he’s going to talk about free speech rights for students and teachers. Instead, he only talks about free speech rights for students, but glosses over teachers.

• In response, I asked Jon if there were any Supreme Court cases regarding free speech rights for teachers. He lied and said there weren’t.

• I fact-check him and ask him specifically about the Garcetti case, at which point he admits teachers don’t have free speech rights in the classroom.

Don’t be afraid to fact check them. Get them on the record saying the things they don’t want to say.
