Can you name one person who would applaud these videos if they featured an actual biological female? Dylan Mulvaney is a biological male and that is the entire reason anyone pays attention. It is a brilliantly executed troll on the left, the right, TERFs and trans activists, politicians, celebrities, the media. Like the shop teacher in Canada with the enormous fake boobs, but infinitely more successful, despite the acting which is mediocre at best. I don't hate Dylan. I hate the fact that so many people pretend to be so enthralled by such insipid pablum.
I’m going to re-read this and absorb it before I make any judgements. again, I love your measured principles, and you make some good points re: Dylan. one thing that I did not know was that she encouraged younger people not to rush into transitioning, which is the opposite of what we hear from educators pushing this ideology on middle school and high school kids. is this a person to hate and dwell upon? I don’t think so. is this a person who I believe is being used to normalise a woke ideology by the left, including by the Biden administration, thus affecting young people and supporting woke education? I do. does it hurt what it means to be a biological woman? I honestly don’t know. does this mean that I hate her or wish harm upon her? absolutely not. I hope she stays true to herself and does not get used by either side. the Drew Barrymore appearance was cringe, btw...but again, the woke right has used the appearance as a means to spread the message that biological women are “bowing down” to the patriarchy. I don’t know if I agree with that exactly. and I believe there are other people and ideologies to focus upon, not Dylan. let her live her life.
The issue that I have with Dylan is that companies and groups (like the White House) are choosing Dylan as an exemplar of what it’s like to be a woman, or for opportunities set aside for women - when that is truly not her experience. I think those opportunities should be limited to those who are born female and continue to identify as female. There can be other opportunities for trans people, just not the same ones as for us who have been female and in female bodies our whole lives. Holding someone up as an “example of womanhood” who has just gotten here is insulting, frankly. Not the trans person’s fault, but rather the mistake of the elevating organization.
(and another thing: Dylan is an ACTOR. she is a PERFORMER. and she is smart. she knows her audience. she knows how to work the stage. and she’s pretty darn entertaining. do we know of any other people like that in society? hmmm.)
I’ll probably be the first to say it, I’m not a fan. I’ve seen a few of her videos and I’m just honestly disgusted that she really thinks all females act like that. There’s just something off about her that makes my earning senses go crazy.
I don't get the sense that she thinks all females act like that, especially after watching that Price is Right video. (Admittedly, the only videos I've seen are the ones Karlyn watched on her stream.) I think she just has a naturally flamboyant personality that gets ramped up to 11 when she's on camera. Like Karlyn and Stephen said, she's a performer, and sometimes performers are over-the-top, which can feel fake, but is not necessarily nefarious.
If that’s the way they are all the time, that inherently means it’s not an act. Why do YOU need to convince yourself it’s an act? Why does that make you feel good?
I agree with much of what you say in this article. I think the level of vitriol directed at Dylan has been over the top, and I further agree that those calling themselves lovers of God give God a black eye when they use such angry and hateful language to describe and attack this poor lost soul. Jesus never encouraged his followers to hate anyone, and he himself was a friend to the worst of sinners. But neither did he ignore their sin or give them leave to do so. Dylan observed that God does not make mistakes, and of course he is absolutely right. God made Dylan male, which Dylan refuses to accept. I think the big issue here is something you observed in your piece, but in a different context. You wrote: "If I believe that to be woke is to be an authoritarian (and I do), that means being actively unwoke would be to push back against any ideology that wants to tell adults how to live their lives or express themselves." The woke have been trying to force us to pretend that a man can be a woman on penalty of being cancelled, fired, or worse. Referring to Dylan as she and her may be "polite," but it is also delusional and it is capitulation to those who would squash my freedom of expression and force me to live their lie. Dylan, by virtue of his genius at self-promotion, has placed himself at the center of this debate and I personally believe that he loves all this attention, despite his crocodile tears.
Well the woman can sing. And her comment about "God not making a mistake" came across as heartfelt. The other four people were annoying and superfluous. Would have enjoyed more singing.
I honestly don't know very much about this person. I don't hate anyone who wants to transition if they are an adult. A problem I have ALWAYS had is when I feel women are being caricaturized and I don't like that a grown person is referring to themselves and dressing like a little girl. It sets off an uncomfortable feeling in me, but I have reasons for that in my personal past, so it's whatever. If you like the content, watch it. If you don't, don't. Just leave teens and kids out of it.
Dylan creeps me out with her Dr. Sardonicus/Jack Nicholson Joker smile and her over the top parading of every possible stereotype of women and girls. If there's an actual woman who behaves like that, I've yet to meet her.
That said, the only reason I'm aware of her existence is that she's achieved notoriety. I'm sure as [theological region] not going to watch her again. She can be the world's ultimate method actor without me.

Thank you VERY much for this excellent and much needed, MUCH NEEDED commentary Karlyn!

I have extremely feminine (male/female) friends and I don’t the bad vibes from but there’s just something about Dylan that rubs me the wrong way
Because it’s an act. They may be acting 24/7 but that doesn’t make it leas than an act
If that’s the way they are all the time, that inherently means it’s not an act. Why do YOU need to convince yourself it’s an act? Why does that make you feel good?
But you're not around them all the time, so how do you know?
Robin Williams his things pretty well.
Edit: hid
Warning not earning lol

I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of watching him. And anyone who plays into the trans delusion by calling him "she" seems misguided at best.
As for him telling people not to rush into transitioning, anything short of him detransitioning is not setting a good example.
So I see you want to compel my speech through public ridicule. How does that make you different than a leftist, exactly?
Well the woman can sing. And her comment about "God not making a mistake" came across as heartfelt. The other four people were annoying and superfluous. Would have enjoyed more singing.
God doesn't make mistakes, but he was born in the wrong body?
