Equity can be great for those who consciously choose it. For example, I happily lived in rural communes for 10 years in my youth. But you CANNOT force it on people, with totalitarian rule or even with majority rule. Each participating individual must be personally invested in it, or it just results in anger and resentment.

We read Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron in high school. Even back in 1979, many of our teachers undermined high achievers like me.
(Equity) I just saw the 2 movies,
Wow I understand in a simple-minded way that this concept was a bad idea.
So, you know I live here in France and I would say I live a very good life.
I asked my husband did he understand what Equity means. I even looked it up in French.
He seemed to only understand the banker's idea of what Equity means.
He did not understand what it means in our life and how it is showing up in government.
When I explained to him he said, "Oh yeah I believed it is a good thing.
But, when our son was growing up and he wanted to play the guitar.
I took him to the Conservatoire de Musique to learn how to play.
However, because my husband was not in the tax bracket to get free lessons he was mad. yeah, it cost a lot if you have to pay for it...
On the other hand, he would argue but Gala we get free health care and you don't have to worry about your retirement, etc;
It seemed to me he would get mad about the most unjust when he had to pay but then he would be glad it's there if we got sick.
but LOL I have free health care .. France’s drug addiction: 1 in 3 on psychotropic medication ...LOL https://www.france24.com/en/20140520-france-drug-addiction-1-3-psychotropic-medication
