Thank you. I forwarded the email to a few people who needed to hear this! I remember back some time ago this started, with Brandon Straka as well. I'm finding that my plans for setting up an online business...just teaching violin...nothing political, still has thrust me into a dilemma. I feel like my interaction with Google and its products is like sleeping with the enemy. I'll be fine, until one day, I'm totally not. Goes for PayPal as well.
Thank you for sharing this, Karlyn. This is concerning but not surprising. The digital iron curtain is rapidly approaching. There are numerous alternative platforms where people can seek out creators and content who question the dominant narrative. You mentioned Locals (free speech!). Odysee (block chain) is another one. Let's all try to stay focused and support each other!!
Yeah the problem is that a lot of them are not viable in terms of replacing the revenue YouTube gives you access to. I wish it weren't that way, but it is for now. Odysee is awesome - I like their platform a lot. They are probably the best alternative out there. I hope they continue to grow.
I hope so too! I think as content "disappears" from the major platforms more people will seek out information via the alternatives and hopefully that will result in these platforms offering increased revenue streams so creators can pay the bills. That does not mean we should not fight back though!
Just want to make one comment. You say that Locals doesn't ban people, but the only other people I subscribe to, paid, are Jovan Hutton Pulitzer and Patrick Byrne. A couple of weeks ago I realized that I wasn't receiving any of their notifications. I found that Patrick was going to my Protonmail spam folder. I fixed that. Still no notifications. I checked my Locals notification settings, was set at Global. I subscribed to you and received your notifications, still not the others. I took Global off my Locals and set each of you to EVERY notification ON. Still not receiving from the other two but I received 2 from you today.
I posted about this on Patrick's Locals and several other people chimed in that they too are not receiving notifications. Something is wrong with at least those two people and the obvious answer is that it is deliberate.
No, they're not banned but isn't it like your videos not being served up to an audience? I didn't look at their Locals because, to me, there had been no new content. I am the one who told you on Twitter a few days ago that I subscribed after telling you that NONE of your videos were showing up on my YouTube feed, even though I was still subscribed.

I've been unsubscribed three times in the last year.

I don't know about any of this, and there are still some quirks with the platform as they grow, but no one is getting banned in this scenario.
